Pacific Coast Highway

After departing Yosemite, our next destination was California's infamous Route 1 – and although a major stretch of road near Big Sur was closed due to a massive mudslide, the remaining coastline (and accompanying wildflowers) did not disappoint.

I visited this area once before when I was much younger. Some portions I remembered, others not. I still, however, stood there in awe just as I did years prior. The coastline along Route 1 is spectacular, and as the saying goes...photos don't do it justice.

Not a bad place for a morning walk, right?

Towards the end of the day, we headed towards our hotel in the outskirts of Monterey. After perusing the farmers market and grabbing dinner downtown, we settled in and got some much needed rest. We were tired, but who can complain given the reasons why?

The next morning we packed up, had a quick breakfast and made our way to San Francisco.
